The light scale
Scale in µmol/m²/s, linear from 0 to 800. Lux are read as daylight: 1 µmol/m²/s is about 54 lux.
- Very dim: up to 25
- Dim to medium: 25–100
- Bright, no direct midday sun: 100–300
- Some direct sun: 300–700
- Direct sun: above 700
Care
Feeding
In solution culture, leaving out nitrogen yellowed the oldest leaves first; leaving out magnesium gave yellowing between the veins of older leaves, strongest at the tip; leaving out sulphur or boron paled the newest leaves.
A Measured directlyMeasured on this species
Potted 'Bettine' given 0, 5, 10 or 15 g NPK 19:19:19 monthly for six months flowered more with every step (6 to 12 flowers per plant), while the plants were taller at 10 g than at 15 g (53 against 47 cm).
B IndirectMeasured on this species
Propagation
Leaf cuttings without an axillary bud formed no roots within six weeks in Anthurium andraeanum and A. scherzerianum.
